AMPED.NYC is a mobile recording project dedicated to documenting and promoting the live performances of buskers and street performers across New York City. Videos, music, and art that fills our public spaces, an ongoing documentary of the talented people and the artistic vibrancy found every day in New York.

Who are Buskers?

Buskers are public performers. Buskers are musicians playing jazz in the park. Buskers are dancers who defy gravity in your train car on the way home from work. Buskers are singers, painters, acrobats, living statues that scare your kids—artists of all kinds sharing their work in public spaces. For some, busking is a way to make a living. Others are professionals honing their craft, or even artists looking to experiment or connect with the city in real time. What they share is the choice to create out in the open, where anyone can experience it.

Our Mission

AMPED.NYC exists to document, celebrate, and promote the work of New York City’s street performers. Through high-quality audio recordings, videography, and artist interviews, we support the culture and the people of the busking community in New York City. We are committed to shared ownership of all recorded materials captured during our work with buskers, offering each artist the ability to use, share, and distribute their recordings however they choose
